McDonald’s Malaysia Trying To Win Customers Back With The Return Of Prosperity Burgers?

The call for boycott has affected many international businesses in the country and McDonald’s Malaysia definitely took a big hit. Since the start of the boycott, the fast food company has tried multiple ways to convince customers that they have no ties with Israel, even going as far as using their employees to win back customers’ trust.

Unfortunately for the fast food chain, Malaysians aren’t so easily persuaded and have continued to boycott the brand despite their efforts. However, McDonald’s is not giving up just yet as they have just brought back one of their most iconic meals: the Prosperity Burger.

A post shared by McDonald’s (@mcdonaldsmalaysia)

Yesterday (Tuesday, 5th December), a netizen posted a photo of a sign at an unspecified McDonald’s outlet to inform that the iconic Prosperity Burgers are back on the menu in celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year. Although the netizen is excited to see the return of this legendary meal, he also reminded everyone to keep boycotting the fast food brand.

“Oh my god, it’s here guys! It’s here. Stay strong everyone!” he tweeted. The post drew a lot of attention from netizens who all agreed to keep the boycott going for as long as it takes. Many even commented that the Prosperity Burgers’ quality has decreased over the years, apart from the Twisted Fries that comes with the meal.

Thankfully, some also provided local brand alternatives to the McDonald’s famous burgers that customers can try instead. A few also suspected that this may be another bait to win back customers’ trust, pointing out that it’s still too early for the Prosperity Burgers to make a return since the Lunar New Year festivities won’t begin until February 2024.

McDonald’s Malaysia has yet to release a statement regarding the speculations on why they decided to bring back the famous meal this early but regardless, their explanation will probably fall on deaf ears to Malaysians who are determined to boycott the brand.
