Many have already started boycotting certain international brands that have any relation with Israel in support of the people of Palestine but it’s not every day that we see other companies joining the boycott to support the cause.

It definitely took netizens by surprise that a popular local restaurant chain has taken the initiative to boycott a certain beverage by completely cutting off their supplier.

On Sunday (29th October), WoodFire Gourmet Burger or WoodFire, founded in Johor Bahru, posted a question on their Facebook page to ask their customers if they’d be willing to boycott any sources related to Israel. Later that day, the restaurant revealed that they were in the process of searching for local beverage suppliers and encouraged customers to recommend some of their favourite local brands.

Yesterday (Monday, 30 October), WoodFire confirmed that they have asked all their outlets around Malaysia to stop restocking their Coca-Cola drinks and will be removing them from their menu. “Thank you to all the suppliers who have contacted us. We will change our change our beverage menu by stages. Insyaallah. For our brothers and sisters in Palestine,” the company wrote.

The initiative has won the brand much praise from netizens who applauded them for supporting the cause of boycotting anything that’s related to Israel. Many also called the burger joint brave as not many companies would be willing to do the same thing, at least publicly. Apart from praise, the restaurant chain also won the hearts of many who said that they would be trying out their food as an alternative to the boycotted brands.
