For many, marriage is forever. But, sometimes, circumstances beyond our control steal our loved ones away. For local TikToker Nur Malina, her heart-wrenching loss after losing her fiancé was soothed by her then-to-be brother-in-law.
Earlier this year, local lady Nur Malina took to her TikTok to share the loss of her fiancé who had reportedly drowned in a river. However, a few months after the loss, Nur Malina had more to share. Apparently, she had remarried her brother-in-law to-be, aka her fiancé’s brother!
Malina had shared in early July that she had lost her husband, Shahrizuan Bin Shukri on 30th June. She later informed netizens via the comment section that he had passed away after drowning in a river. The two had already been engaged, however, were yet to be married, which devastated Malina greatly.
But, two months later, Malina returned to netizens with news to share. Apparently, she had tied the knot with her fiancé’s brother, Shahron Bin Shukri on 8th September. Her video showed moments from the couple’s solemnisation ceremony (nikah) and her new husband later wiping away tears. “It is true that marriage is God’s secret,” she said fervently.
Malina thanked Shahron for being willing to take care of her in his brother’s stead and for being ready to love her after their marriage. “(Your brother) must be proud of you,” she told her husband. Malina also added that she had only accepted Shahron’s proposal after praying istikhara (a prayer for guidance).
Netizens swiftly congratulated the couple, with many wishing them joy. A few even pointed out how similar the brother’s looked, which became a concern to some. One opined that Nur Malina would struggle to come to terms with Shahrizuan’s passing. “(You’ll) always remember him,” they stated. But, others merely praised Shahron for taking responsibility for his brother’s love.
Well, there’s no denying that love can certainly transcend boundaries. And like netizens, we wish the couple all the best as they journey together in life.
