Those who drive to work and back home know the pain of sitting through terrible traffic on the highway – but which highway has the worst traffic? Twitter user Wan Afiq was curious about what netizens thought, so he tweeted, “Which highway (in Malaysia) has the worst traffic jams during peak hours?”
The tweet got tons of responses from local drivers who gave their opinion on which highway deserves the title. While the Klang Valley is home to several highways and expressways, netizens unanimously crowned the Federal Highway as the highway with the most traffic jams.
One netizen said a 15-minute distance can turn into an hour-and-half-long drive on the Federal Highway. Another added the traffic would be even worse when it’s raining, on Fridays, or both. One netizen also said that the traffic jams are so bad that even if you leave the house at 7am, you might not reach your office by 9:30am.
For your information, the Federal Highway connects the Kuala Lumpur capital city with the Klang area, and it starts in Seputeh in Kuala Lumpur and goes all the way to Klang in Selangor. It is considered, even by experts, as the busiest highway in Klang Valley, especially during rush hour. However, many said the traffic jam doesn’t just happen during peak hours on weekdays because it would continue past midnight on a Saturday.
Besides the Federal Highway, there were a few other notable mentions, specifically the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP), the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) and the Maju Expressway (MEX). As some of these highways and expressways are connected, a netizen even joked that if you can survive a combination of them, you can survive anything.
Long gone are the days when the roads were clear during MCO. The closest we might come to is during festive seasons when many would balik kampung.
