It’s important for flight attendants to always look presentable before they board the plane. However, there has always been a debate on whether stewardesses’ uniforms are considered appropriate as many have complained about them being too sexy.
While most people don’t have an issue with airline uniforms, this particular flight attendant has sparked a new debate after a video of her went viral on social media. Here’s why:

Yesterday (Sunday, 15th October), a netizen who goes by @_AmranFans reposted a video from Instagram of a hijabi Batik Air Malaysia (formerly Malindo Air) stewardess opening the plane’s exit door. The video looked innocent enough, however, towards the end when the cabin crew managed to open the door, it was shown that her batik skirt had a long slit, revealing much of her left leg.
“What kind of uniform is this???” the netizen wrote. The post drew a lot of mixed reactions with many criticising the flight attendant for not properly covering herself from the waist down while others argued that people should mind their business and not put the cabin crew on blast over such trivial matters.
Some commented that while they understand it’s the standard uniform, the stewardess should have at least taken the initiative to wear leggings to cover her bare skin since she was wearing a hijab.
Netizens also suggested that Batik Air Malaysia should be the one to blame for not providing the option for female flight attendants to wear trousers. When asked about his intentions for uploading the video, @_AmranFans said that he wanted to call out the original poster, claiming that she turned off her comments section after being told off to cover herself properly.
Batik Air Malaysia has also yet to address the controversial viral post in an official statement. What are your thoughts on the uniform?
