There is no doubt that having a job, regardless of what it is, has its ups and downs – but can we compare having a 9-6 office job to working as a delivery rider?

A Twitter user recently shared a screenshot of a TikTok video where a rider voiced his opinion about office workers complaining about their struggles. In the screenshot, the rider said that office workers only work 8 hours in an air-conditioned room but are already complaining about a harsh life.

He continued that being a delivery rider is more difficult because of the various struggles they have gone through, like having to work under the sun and working for up to 15 hours a day. The rider also wrote, “Don’t tell me life is hard if you’ve never gone through all those before.”

While the rider might be trying to voice his frustrations, his words did not sit well with netizens, who criticised him for comparing office workers and delivery riders. Many defended working a 9-6 office job, saying that it’s not as easy and has its own hardships like toxic work culture and heavy workload. Some also debated that being a rider doesn’t mean working as long as 15 hours as the job is flexible because one can choose how long to work. Generally, netizens say that all jobs will come with hardships, so we shouldn’t invalidate others’ struggles.

What do you think about this comparison? Do you believe the rider has a valid point?
