What was meant to be a nice family day out, turned into a nightmare after one member suffered a major head injury. A woman posted a story on Facebook about a terrifying incident that happened over the weekend along with photos and a video of said incident.
She wrote that she and her husband wanted to treat their kids to a meal at A&W when suddenly, the husband suffered a head injury on their way to the restaurant at the TSB Commercial Centre, Sungai Buloh.
In her captions, the netizen wrote that they were just approaching the restaurant when suddenly she heard her husband calling out to her. She panicked after seeing her husband’s head bleeding after a shutter pole fell on him. Thankfully, a few staff members from a HLK shop next to the A&W restaurant came out to help the injured man. When asked if the pole belonged to them, the staff clarified that it actually belonged to the fast food joint.
One of the HLK staff ran into the food establishment to inform them of what happened. The A&W employees quickly removed the shutter pole from the scene and stored it away. “This incident clearly showed the carelessness of A&W staff at TSB Sungai Buloh who placed the shutter pole vertically on the stone pillar outside the restaurant,” she wrote. The woman quickly drove her husband to the nearest hospital where he received a total of 7 stitches on the left side of his head.
“The A&W outlet should not have left the shutter pole outside their premise like this as this is the main pedestrian path. It should’ve been stored away safely. What happens if the pole falls on a child? That’s extremely risky!” she said before adding that she and her husband had filed a police report at the Sungai Buloh police station shortly after getting treated.
After the incident went viral, A&W Malaysia released an official statement to address the situation. “We have reached out to the customer involved and have made an apology. Rest assured, a thorough investigation is being conducted to ensure similar incidents like this do not happen again,” they wrote. In the caption on Facebook, the fast food chain added that they are offering their assistance during the customer’s recovery process.
That must’ve been a traumatising experience for the family and judging by how big the pole was as seen in the screenshot above, it definitely looks like it could’ve ended badly for them. We wish the customer a speedy recovery and hope that he will not suffer any long-term effects of his injuries.
