Popular is as popular does, but the downside is that if you fall, you’ll fall hard. And Chinese singer David Luo (罗中旭)’s reputation is taking a very hard hit right now, thanks to some viral rumours.
The 54-year-old made his mark with the song “星光灿烂”, even earning him the honour of singing the theme song for Beijing 2022 Olympics, but has since gone viral for something else. On 8th October, the self-proclaimed single singer was revealed to have already been married!
A female netizen reportedly dropped a bomb on social media a few days ago, claiming that she had been in a relationship with singer David Luo for a year and a half. Prior to her exposing the singer, the netizen claimed they had been very much in love, however, David had allegedly, explicitly told her to keep their relationship quiet.
She did as asked, at least until May this year when she discovered David Luo was married. She recounted: “He lives in his father-in-law’s villa with his wife, children and his father-in-law who is only a few years older than him.” She was horrified and unable to bear the news, so they officially broke it off in September. He later alleged asked her to stop contacting him as she was supposedly affecting his family.
Female netizen 吃瓜少女张小寒 later claimed the netizen had contacted her and passed her further evidence of her story, such as chat records. Reportedly, David had admitted he had a child in September. Additionally, he had also allegedly been cheating on his girlfriend with ten other ladies.
Some netizens claimed to have been shocked by the news, while other are wondering why the fact that the 54-year-old singer is married would have come as such a shock. A few even opined the woman was leeching off him. So far, David Luo has yet to make a statement on the matter.
