Since American singer Taylor Swift did not include Malaysia as part of her “The Eras Tour”, Malaysians were hoping they could still catch the tour concert film. However, much to their dismay, the film will not be screened locally – but there is still some hope.
Last week, several news outlets reported that the much-anticipated “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” concert film will not be screening in Malaysia, leaving fans disappointed. The movie will document the singer’s wildly successful ongoing tour and will be shown in over 100 countries beginning 13th October.
However, there may still be hope for local Swifties as both TGV Cinemas and Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) have shared that they are still pending updates from distributors. According to a spokesperson for TGV, screening for the movie will depend on which distributor possesses the theatrical right for the film. They added that screening will not be possible unless the distributor has made an offer to them to screen the movie.
GSC also shared that there have been no updates on whether they will screen the concert film. Even on social media, both cinemas have only responded to fans’ enquiries by saying they are waiting for updates and information from the distributor. According to the film’s official website, the international distributor for the film is Trafalgar Releasing.
We can only hope for good news for now so please be patient, Swifties!
