For those who may not be aware, Deutsche Post AG, or DHL Group, is one of the world’s largest courier companies and we have our very own DHL Express outlets here in Malaysia with most located in the Klang Valley area.
The company just released a statement earlier today (Monday, 2nd October) to inform that they will be increasing the price for their services in 2024. Here’s what we know so far:
According to the statement, DHL prices are adjusted annually by DHL Expresses, which also takes into account administrative costs associated with security and regulatory requirements, currency fluctuations, and inflation. It is said that both national and international authorities regularly update these measures in many countries around the world including Malaysia.
The price adjustments, of course, will vary depending on the country you’re living in. For Malaysia, the courier, express and parcel market size is more than RM4.7 billion in 2023 and starting 1st January of next year in 2024, DHL Express will be charging an extra 4.9% for their services.
“With the annual price adjustment, we can continue to invest in improved solutions, increase flexibility across our network and focus on our responsibility to the environment to deliver resilient and sustainable logistic solutions,” said DHL Express Malaysia and Brunei managing director Julian Neo.
As mentioned, Malaysia is only one of the many countries affected by the price adjustments. It was also reported that DHL Express in the Philippines and India will be charged a 4.9% and 6.9% price increase respectively starting January next year.
For your information, earlier in January this year, DHL Express increased service prices by 7.9% with the company citing the rise in fuel cost and challenging global trade in 2022.
