Just a few days ago, RapidKL began implementing women-only coaches for all MRT trains along the Kajang Line to provide women with a safe space during their commute.
Despite the initial announcement getting unsavoury feedback from Malaysians unsatisfied with the unsolved train frequency issues, many women responded positively to the newly implemented coaches. However, many are disappointed that men still board the coaches despite the obvious pink-coloured signage adorning the exterior and the interior.
@shueeewenn It’s okay we respect people who have dyslexia 🥺 #rapidkl #mrt
In a video posted by TikTok user @/shueeewenn, she showed how several men were still sitting in a women-only coach at different times throughout the day. The bright pink signs were clearly shown in the video, proving that the coaches are indeed for women only. Her video has gotten tons of comments from netizens, generally sharing disappointment at the men for not respecting the space. Some also mocked the men, saying that they must have issues reading the bold pink signs.
However, that wasn’t the only instance of men boarding the women’s coaches because a quick search through Twitter shows many more accounts from other women. Some noted that the men remained ignorant despite getting called out by the women and a few had even filmed themselves while in the coach. Several tweets had also tagged RapidKL so they could take action on the matter.

While RapidKL has responded to some tweets regarding the issue, it is not known if there will be any specific action taken against the men. What do you think about this issue? What should be done to stop men from “invading” women’s space?
