After multiple stories of customers finding maggots inside soy sauce bottles at restaurants, it wouldn’t be surprising if more people opt to cook their own meals and eat at home as there’s no guarantee that the food from outside is safe enough to eat.
However, this woman probably did not expect that she would experience a similar problem in her own house. Unfortunately, it was a little too late by the time she discovered her soy sauce bottle was filled with cockroaches.

A couple of days ago, a woman who goes by Layla Azli or @laylaazli on TikTok posted a video of what she discovered while she was having her meal. According to the netizen, she noticed that the soy sauce bottle in her house was almost out so she decided to finish it. However, after she poured the sauce onto her meal the second time, she made a horrific discovery; the bottle was filled with cockroaches!
Unfortunately for the local woman, she had already taken a few bites of her food that was mixed with the soy sauce before she noticed the unsightly insects in the bottle. “I think I already swallowed my food like 4 times before I noticed [the cockroaches]. I really hope I won’t get sick after this. I’ll update in 24 hours,” she said. In her caption, she also cursed the vermins for ruining her meal time.
The video went viral with netizens feeling disgusted by the sight of the cockroaches in the soy sauce bottle. Some wondered how they even got into the bottle while others asked for an update on her health and well-being after consuming the tainted soy sauce.
Layla posted a follow-up video yesterday (Wednesday, 20th September) to update her followers on how she’s doing since the incident. Thankfully, she said she hadn’t experienced any kind of illness but still couldn’t get the situation out of her head. As for how the cockroaches got into the bottle, she suspected that someone must’ve used it but forgot to close the lid right after.
“Now all of you have to be careful and be sure to check your soy sauce bottles for any insects. Don’t be like me, please,” she advised before ending her video. After this incident, we’ll definitely be checking our soy sauce bottles at home before pouring the sauce onto our food.
