Plenty of things can happen in parking lots – but most of the time, you’d probably never expect to see your car vandalised, especially if it was done out in the open. Unfortunately for this Malaysian content creator, that was what happened to him.
According to the video shared through his Instagram, Aereon Wong had parked his car at the open parking lot by the Cochrane MRT station, opposite MyTown Shopping Centre. He parked right by the guardhouse at the entrance at 7pm, but when he returned at around 11pm, the owner found his vehicle damaged with the windscreen window, side view mirror and driver-side door handle smashed.
After further inspection, Aereon found pieces of broken wood on top of his car and the surrounding area. He noted that the car parked next to him was also damaged, leading him to believe the culprit had purposely vandalised the two vehicles. The content creator said that the incident caused him over RM13,000 in damages and would take up to a month to repair his car. He had also made a report to the police but is now asking for any witnesses to help with the investigation and find the culprit.
After Aereon posted the video, many netizens shared their shock at the incident. Some advised the content creator to check for any footage from dashboard cameras or CCTVs in the surrounding area, hoping that it could give him more information. The incident also had many people pointing out the issue with open space parking lots, saying that many aren’t well-managed, so incidents like these are bound to happen. Some even urged Aereon to hold the parking lot management accountable for what happened to his car.

Hopefully, the incident will remind us to be more wary of where we park our cars. If you have any information regarding the incident, you can contact Aereon via his social media to help with investigations.
