Shantay you stay – in our minds, rent-free, forever! The 11th edition of Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) sashayed away to thunderous applause on Sunday night (27th August) after a dazzling, seven-day showcase of jaw-droppingly divine designs, spectacular presentations and glittering appearances by the who’s who of the Malaysian beau monde. We know, because Hype had front row seats for all the main shows – and we’ve got tea to spill!
With a snazzy new format that saw the seven days unfurl on seven different, illustrious locations across the Klang Valley, Hype – along with a moving cloud of industry bigwigs, celebs and fashionistas – flitted from runway to runway in our designer heels, air-kissing each other (mwah, dahling!) and loving every minute of it!
From the 21st to 27th of August, we gorged our senses on the epic – and totally extra – new, ready-to-wear collections of up to 50 (count ’em, 50!) established and up-and-coming Malaysian designers and brands, with each KLFW2023 runway show leaving us utterly slayed or savagely gagged. Everyone ate and left no crumbs!
Seven rising designers and labels made their first appearance at KLFW this year, and because they blew us the heck away, we’re certain they’ll be wowing us again at next year’s extravaganza. As for the heavy-hitters – none of them pulled their creative punches again this year, with the likes of Behati, Rizman Ruzaini, Hatta Dolmat, Jimmy Lim, FIZIWOO, KN Key Ng, Ezzati Amira and more bringing the house down with their boss-level creations.
And the sartorial magnificence wasn’t confined to the models tearing down the runways – fashion-fierce audience members flexing in front-row seats and werking it on the red carpets were showstoppers in themselves! Tonnes of fashionistas were rocking amazing lewks and appearing snatched for the Gods, with celebs like MsPuiyi, Dato’ Seri Vida and more stealing the show! There were ‘wow’! and ‘yowzah’! moments everywhere you turned!
If you missed KLFW2023, our condolences. But here’s some consolation: Hype’s exclusive video overviews of what went down on each day of the week. Grab the popcorn!

Finale
The stage for the shimmering finale was the fittingly-exquisite, pillarless grand ballroom of the illustrious InterContinental Kuala Lumpur Hotel. A trio of fashion showcases – Super Sunday, Buttonscarves and Fiziwoo – illuminated the superlative space, to the delight of the sparkling beau monde in attendance.
But the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur Hotel was more than just the pretty face of KLFW23’s closing show. In addition to being a celebrated strong supporter of homegrown fashion designers, the hotel is also a tireless champion of environmental sustainability and supporter of KLFW’s collab with BYD Auto’s oh-so-chic electric cars.
Putting its money where its mouth is, InterContinental Kuala Lumpur Hotel linked arms with the two parties to fashionably parade Atto 3 and Dolphin electric cars at KLFW’s finale – along with the hotel’s newly-debuted EV Charger at the porte cochère. This is one trend we hope NEVER goes out of style!
“We are thrilled to be in partnership with KL Fashion Week 2023, an event that not only celebrates the brilliance of our local designers, but also prioritises sustainability,” said Meera Raj, General Manager of InterContinental Kuala Lumpur Hotel.
The collaboration highlighted the hotel’s ‘Journey to Tomorrow’ ESG commitment to supporting local talent and environmentally-friendly initiatives. To that, we say: ‘SLAY’!
We’re now setting our designer watches to KLFW2024. See you then, dahlings!
