For those who may not be aware, KFC is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year! And what better way to celebrate this milestone than live music and delicious, finger-licking food! The first day of the much anticipated KEPCI Music Fest was in full swing yesterday (Saturday, 26th August) at Malawati Stadium, Shah Alam and we got to experience everything the event had to offer.
During the festival outdoors, not only did guests enjoy the fun, exciting games, and attractions, but they also got to enjoy their KFC meals with live music performances by White Percussions Unit, Gard Wuzgut, Caliph Buskers, Chronicalz, and Budak Nakal Hujug Simpang. That was only half the fun as the concert indoor was where the excitement everyone had been waiting for, here’s what went down:

Keeping fans entertained as they were finding their seats in the stadium was none other than KFC’s very own mascot DJ Colonel Sanders! Once everyone was ready and lights were dimmed, newly debuted girl group COEX opened the concert with their rendition of BLACKPINK’s “Pink Venom” and Ramlah Ram’s “Selamat Jalan Romeo”. Serving vocals and choreography, the opening act ended their energetic set with their single “Gimme That Crown”. The local quartet may be new to the scene but they definitely left an impression that will make everyone look out for them in the future.
Before moving on to the next act, Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Dato Seri Dr. Wan Azizah arrived at the venue and took their seats to enjoy the rest of the concerts with the music lovers and KFC fans alike. After welcoming the honoured guests, pop band Insomniacks took the stage and wowed the crowd with their hits “Igauan Malam”, “Sempurna” and of course, the fan-favourite “Pulang”. Enchanting the audience with her mesmerising vocals was ballad icon Misha Omar who started her set with the bone-chilling “Pulangkan” from the “Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam” movie.

The 41-year-old legend then got everyone singing along to every word when she ended her performance with the song that started her career, “Bunga Bunga Cinta”. Speaking of bunga, local singer-rapper Bunga (who will soon open for the highly-anticipated Coldplay concert this November) kept the energy going by cutely interacting with the audience and performing her hits “Intan Payung”, “Belai” and “Buai”.
The artist whom everyone has been waiting for, the one, the only, the legendary Dato Sri Siti Nurhaliza opened her set with her single “Magis” accompanied by her dancers. Captivating the audience all the way through with “Romansa Kita” and her classic hit “Bukan Cinta Biasa”, Malaysia’s no.1 singer also took the time to dedicate a special short acapella song to Dr. Wan Azizah who was very moved by the gesture.

Moving on from one legend to the next, rock star Amy Search commanded the stage with his solo performance. All eyes were on the 65-year-old as he sang classics such as “Isabella”, “Kerja Gila” and “Rozana” without missing a single beat. The concert started to feel more like a rock festival when Sekumpulan Orang Gila (SOG) took the stage and performed their songs while the audience formed 3 moshpits in the free-standing zone, much to everyone’s surprise but don’t worry, no one was hurt throughout the band’s entire set.
The night was still young when it was Yonnyboii’s turn to grace the stage. Dedicating his entire set to his wife and newborn baby, the singer-rapper got fans dancing on their feet with songs like “Angel” and “Sengkek” before ending his performance with his hit “Sakit”.
Amy Search at this age still power on stage!
Finally dapat tengok Isabella live 😭🤘🏻#KEPCIMusicFest pic.twitter.com/2f2l6orcrv

Finally, to end the night, MK K-Clique gave a spectacular, energetic opening with “HAA TEPOK” before he was joined by member NOKI onstage for “Beg 2 Back” and continued to bring the house down together with songs such as “Sah Tu Satu” and their biggest hit “Mimpi” where they went down closer to sing with the audience. After performing for a crowd of 8.5k people last night, it’s safe to say that each artist “ate” and left no crumbs, making Day 1 of the (SOLD-OUT) KEPCI Music Fest at Malawati Stadium a huge success!
If you missed out on all the fun then don’t worry! There might still be a chance for you to catch these artists and more on the second and third day of the festival taking place in Sabah and Johor respectively! Check out the official website for more details on how to purchase your tickets.
