As you may have heard, Hong Kong actresses Charmaine Sheh (佘诗曼) and Candice Yu (余安安) have been in Malaysia for quite some time to film a drama. Despite their busy schedule, the stars took some time to have dinner with fellow actor Raymond Lam (林峯) and his wife Carina Zhang (张馨月).
While still in the country, Charmaine apparently took the opportunity to learn how to prepare a local dish, and what better way to learn to cook Char Kuey Teow than from a roadside stall in Kuala Lumpur?
Earlier today (Thursday, 24th August), the Hong Kong star posted a video on her Xiaohongshu account of herself preparing the famous Char Kuey Teow dish at a roadside stall in KL. According to her captions, the vendor was invited by the film crew to prepare food for the team which then led to the actress’s curiosity to know how the dish was prepared.
The 48-year-old can be seen pouring the sauce into the mix with her left hand while stirring the dish in the large frying pan with her right hand. A woman behind the camera advised the former Miss Hong Kong Pageant contestant to stir with both her hands while the stall owner, who was guiding her through the process humorously reminded her to not burn the food.
“It’s easy to watch the cook fry, but it was actually very difficult when I tried it myself. I was tired after frying a few times, and with the hot weather, I was sweating profusely after a while,” she wrote in her captions. Once the “Death Notice” star was done frying the Char Kuey Teow, she happily took a photo with the stall owner. As for how the dish tasted, the “Waiting For You” singer said it was simply delicious.
After posting the video, it’s no surprise that some fans commented that they wanted to have a taste of the Char Kuey Teow that was specially prepared by Charmaine Sheh. Who wouldn’t? We personally would love to see her cook or try more local dishes while she’s still here in Malaysia.
