Owning a luxury car like a BMW or a Mercedes is a dream for many people. However, just like the price tag, the maintenance cost for them can be just as expensive – as shown by this BMW owner.
User @/MHaffizJ recently shared the bills he received after sending his BMW for maintenance. In the caption, he wrote, “These are just (the) bearings and front brakes,” adding that he received all three bills in just one day. In the photos he shared, the total cost was almost RM9,000. He even equated the cost to the price of a new Macbook Pro. While the BMW owner did not share the exact model, he did mention that his car is now over five years old.
The tweet had a few other luxury car owners sharing the maintenance cost for their rides, like one owner of a 2-year-old Mercedes Benz GLA250 whose bill was over RM2,700. An Audi user gave the public a look at her car servicing bill, which was almost RM8,080, with over RM6,000 of it just being the price of the spare parts. Another netizen shared their boss’ experience with their BMW, saying the cost of one spare tyre was RM1,200. The most shocking was a Mercedes Benz user whose car maintenance bill was RM32,350 as he had to replace many parts.
Other netizens shared their reaction to the tweet, most surprisingly unfazed by the bill. Instead, they wondered why some still yearn to own a luxury car despite the high maintenance cost. Others said the tweet gave them even more reason to be happy with their more modest Perodua and Proton rides. However, a few users shared that BMW owners get a 5-year warranty with their new cars, meaning the service would be free for the first five years.
Perhaps seeing the maintenance cost for BMW will give you another reason to be happy with your current ride – unless it’s another luxury car.
