When you head to a private island resort for a holiday, you expect to visit the holiday destination of your dreams. However, for this group of local influencers, their RM17k island resort experience turned into a nightmare.
Internet personality Norreen Iman was the first of the group to expose the terrible service and living conditions of Alang’s Rawa, a private boutique island resort located on Rawa Island in Mersing, Johor. In a string of Instagram Stories, the influencer spoke about the terrible experience she and the other guests had endured while staying at the resort.
Norreen first shared about the bumpy boat ride to the island, saying that the boat was going so fast that the group got wet all over. She added that the boat captain only laughed at her when she complained about the ride. The influencer then shared about the hygiene issues at the resort, highlighting the dirty bed sheets that caused skin irritation for four people.
The actress also spoke about the rude treatment from the Alang’s Rawa staff, sharing that a staff member had made her move furniture into another room, claiming that all the staff were generally displeased by the guests. According to Norreen, the group of 15 had paid over RM17,000 for a 3-day, 2-night trip, with each guest paying over RM1,000 to stay in a cramped room.
Entrepreneur Bella Khann was another guest from the same group who also complained about the resort. In her Instagram Stories, the public figure spoke about the water supply, saying that the group had to brush their teeth with salty water. She also shared the absurd prices for their meals, adding that the group had to pay over RM900 just for drinks and snacks.
To add insult to injury, Bella revealed that Alang’s Rawa management was deleting any bad reviews about the resort. After sharing the horrible living conditions and customer service at Alang’s Rawa Resort, Norreen, and Bella received tons of responses from fans who were previous guests. Many have shared their dissatisfaction with the resort and the subpar service from the staff.
The resort has yet to address the complaints but we hope Norreen and Bella can report these issues to relevant authorities so no other guest will have to deal with this in the future.
