As many of us know, never get between a hungry person and their food. However, it seems this GrabFood thief has no regard for such frivolous rules. After discovering who it was, we can understand why.
Someone recently shared a video claiming to have caught their “food thief”. Apparently, their food, ordered from GrabFood, would vanish after arriving at their house. Well, thanks to CCTV footage, they finally managed to identify their thief!
The video places the incident occurring on 25th July around 7pm. Its overlaid with someone narrating, and proves to be fairly entertaining. The voice first observes a man driving up to the house. “Who’s coming to the house this late?” he asks, listing out how suspicious the person seems.
However, upon seeing the giant green bag on the back of the bike, his tone switches. “Oh, he’s sending food. He’s definitely sending food.” The voice jokes about how many items there are in the plastic bag, before observing the man leaving. Twenty minutes later, there’s movement in the corner of the screen and a monkey appears.
The voice helpfully urges the monkey to check the area. “Is it clear?” he asks. “Yes, there is no one around.” The monkey clambers onto the table where the food was left before it starts prodding the plastic bag. According to the narrator, the bag contains nasi lemak and we see the monkey grab a container of sambal. At some point, its joined by a friend who decides to grab the whole bag and go.
Netizens are tickled pink by the bold and cheeky thieves. “Lucky them,” several commented, while one stated: “It was the work of another being it seems.” A netizen also shared their concern, saying: “(You would) have complained afterwards that the rider didn’t drop the food off, pity the rider who would have gotten banned.”
Others had a different concern. “I almost blamed the Grab rider,” one confessed. They weren’t the only ones. A few others admitted to thinking the rider had been the one responsible for the missing food. As one comment aptly put it: “The plot twist was really unexpected.”
Well, at the very least, we’re happy the home owners managed to identify their food thieves! Although they won’t be able to bring these repeat offenders to justice, we do hope they’ll manage to get their GrabFood next time with informed instructions.
