Massage chairs are meant to help us relax, especially after a long day of activities. The ones in malls and airports have always been convenient for those who may need to rest for a few minutes, but who knew some massage chairs could also be dangerous?

Originally posted on Weibo, a video has been circulating on other social media platforms that showed a woman in China screaming in pain after her hair got stuck in a massage chair at Chongqing Railway Station in Chong Qing, China. Thankfully, her cries for help were heard by passersby who then came to her aid.
It was said that the victim’s hair got “rolled” into the machine that was still operating, pulling her head into the chair. Her rescuers managed to unplug the chair from its power source but unfortunately, the woman’s hair was still stuck in the machine, thus trapping her in the massage chair.
The least painful way to remove her from the massage chair was to cut off parts of her hair; not ideal but it was definitely better than forcefully pulling her out of her entanglement. According to the station’s management, the particular massage chair used by the victim had malfunctioned. The incident resulted in the management deciding to cease operations of all massage chairs in the area until further notice.
As reported by DimSumDaily yesterday (Monday, 7th August), the matter has been resolved and the woman received immediate medical treatment after the terrifying incident. We’re not entirely sure how her hair got sucked into the massage chair but this viral video has certainly unlocked a new fear of massage chairs.
