There’s been a few studies about Malaysian behaviour or physical appearance. Earlier this year, one research revealed that Malaysian men have one of the smallest penises in the world, and prior to that, a US study suggested that our people and Indonesians are the laziest in the world.
Get ready to feel worse (or better?) about yourself as there’s been another study that showed the average age of people around the world to lose their virginity. Which spot did Malaysia take? Let’s find out:
World Population Review, a global population data, and demographics website, recently updated their data on Average Age to Lose Virginity by Country. Before showing the list, the website revealed those who live in Europe and North America would lose their virginity at a younger age, at 15 to 16 years old, compared to people who live in Asia, at 18 to 20 years old and above.
So where did Malaysia rank on this list? As seen in the table above, the people of our country take the top spot of oldest in the world to lose their virginity at 23 years old. Just behind us are Indians, and Singaporeans who tend to wait until their 22 to engage in sexual intimacy. Keep in mind that this is just the average number and that the website did not really specify exactly how they conducted this research.
However, World Population Review’s results were backed up by the World of Statistics Twitter page as they tweeted more or less the same data yesterday (Wednesday, 2nd August). How do our fellow Malaysians feel about this list? Here’s how some of them reacted on Twitter:
Unlike the previous studies, it seems that most of our people are pretty okay with this list even though we can’t verify how reliable the data is. While World Population Review did not elaborate on how they came to this conclusion, they did however source a 2012 research from Durex that revealed the average of Malaysians to have sex is indeed 23 years old and that 54% of our people would use condoms during their first time.
What do you think of this study? Do you agree with the list?
