No one likes getting pulled over by traffic police, but if it has to happen, it happens. Unfortunately, this supposed Singaporean driver didn’t agree.
A video has been making its rounds on TikTok and it’s infuriating many. It highlights a certain vehicle with a distinct Singaporean number plate and how its driver refused to respect our local police. Needless to say, Malaysians had a lot to say after that spectacle.

The TikTok video was uploaded on Monday (31st July) showing a car with a Singapore number plate and one of our local traffic police. The police was alone and attempted to talk to the driver, however, the Singaporean driver refused to obey.
Instead of getting out of the car, the driver attempted to get away from the police by driving off. The traffic police had to stand in front of the car to stop it from moving. As someone pointed out in the video, he was alone on-duty which made it difficult for him to handle the driver.
The disrespectful behaviour apparently infuriated the traffic police because he was later seen hitting the car’s side mirror and folding it in. Thankfully, a short while later, the same car and its driver was spotted on the side of the road, pulled over by Singapore traffic police. The driver however still refused to exit the car.

Netizens weren’t happy with the Singaporean driver and his attitude. “When you come to Malaysia, you must abide by Malaysia’s rules. Don’t always think of yourself as a guest when you (are here),” one comment stated. Another said: “(I) really dislike the attitude of some Singaporeans.”
A netizen also opined that as the Singapore checkpoint was in front, the driver might have been attempting to escape consequences by driving straight back to Singapore. However, some wondered what had motivated the driver to disobey the traffic police.
“(Is) this (the driver) refusing to (pay a bribe)?” a netizen speculated. Another theorised the possibility of it being a scam. “Do traffic police in Malaysia ride this (type) of motorbike? It’s not the first time someone has masqueraded as a Malaysian police officer,” they pointed out.

Well, unfortunately, no one is certain what became of the Singaporean driver. But, we do hope things will get cleared up for both the driver and the traffic police soon!
