Wanna embrace the fresh feel of spring? Read on! (Yes, yes – Malaysia doesn’t experience spring or summer, but just go with us on this, yeah?)
Summertime conjures up a variety of scents, including sunscreen, freshly-cut grass, and most definitely, new nail polish. When summer arrives, manicurists frequently find that their schedules fill up, and for good reason: its THE season to get new nails. With #SummerNails content garnering millions of views on TikTok, the platform has swiftly emerged as the go-to source for nail-related beauty trends. And we have just the inspo you need for your new summer nails.

Also synonymous with spring and early summer are: flowers. Combine flowers and nails, and what do you have? The season’s hottest trend! Almost everyone enjoys simple, floral nail art, especially A-list celebrities and nail art enthusiasts like Lizzo, Selena Gomez, and Hailey Bieber. We mean, what’s not to love about it? Well – besides the fact that it can be difficult to create floral looks on your nails.

But contrary to popular belief, manicure experts say that floral nail designs do not necessarily have to be excessive to be fashionable. And why is this the case? Well, they are actually quite simple to create and, more significantly, easy to alter and personalise. Your favourite summer nail colours and a dotting tool, which is a nail art tool with rounded sides for generating perfect dots, are all you really need to create a variety of adorable floral manicures. And what’s the most trending nail art look at the moment? Hibiscus nail art – and it’s simpler to create than you might imagine!
Here’s how you go about it:
Hibiscus nail art has gone viral on Tiktok, demonstrating how simple it is to “nail” it. Even for those who are more artistically challenged, the effortless technique required makes painting on hibiscus blossoms appear like a piece of cake. Besides Zara, there are tons of other TikTokers who are hopping on this new nail trend.

In a TikTok video, Zara, a manicurist known as @zacrylics, uses only a pencil-thin bristle brush and a tiny metal dotting tool to make hibiscus blossoms.
Start by using the dotting tool to create tiny nail paint dots arranged in threes to create petals. After placing those dots, gently move in with the brush and feather the polish towards the center to imitate five-dimensional blossoms. It’s important to be gentle because you wouldn’t want to put in so much pressure, which will only make the petals look unnatural. Once you’re done with the petals, from the center, draw a thin line and finish off by adding a few small dots to resemble the appeareance of a tropical flower.

You can stop there if you want for a simple flower – but if you have more space on your nails like Zara does, you can continue drawing more flowers on, or you can make the flower big enough to fill the spaces on your nails. The best part about this nail trend is that any colour base will do – as long as you flower is white. Get creative and position your flower any way you like!
