When dealing with criticisms, there have been times when companies took the feedback well while some got triggered and took revenge. Well, netizens are now saying that Grab Malaysia needs a new PR team after seeing how the company handled the issue of a suspended rider.
This was following the news of a local Grab rider getting suspended after uploading a now-deleted video of two Singaporean men hauling a small gasoline-filled barrel into the trunk of their vehicle. The rider revealed through his TikTok account that the suspension was because someone had lodged a report against him.
After many Malaysians bombarded their social media on behalf of the rider, Grab Malaysia made an official statement to clarify the issue. In the statement, the company explained that the rider’s suspension necessary so they could investigate the matter. They added that the rider has been reinstated and apologised to him for all the issues caused.
The rider also shared through TikTok that his Grab account has been reactivated and thanked Malaysians for their support. However, many netizens were still unsatisfied with how the company handled the situation, saying that Grab made a hasty decision to suspend the rider – equating it to punishing him before he was found guilty.
They also criticised the company’s lack of professionalism as the official statement appeared to have been created using Instagram Stories. Others pointed out that the statement was issued at midnight, an unreasonable time to make an official statement.
Along with the criticisms, many netizens have also said they will boycott the company, urging others to delete the app from their phones. Do you agree with netizens’ opinions? Share your thoughts.
