When ordering food through online delivery platforms, we often expect our food or drinks to arrive in one piece. That said, accidents inevitably happen, and many of us have encountered shortcomings with our orders. In this case, delivery riders are often the ones to receive the brunt of a customer’s anger, as they’re the ones in charge of delivering the orders.
Recently, a Malaysian man named Shahril Aiman took to Facebook to vent his anger after the FamilyMart drinks that his wife ordered online had spilt into the plastic bag. “If anyone know this delivery rider, please give him some advice. If this is the service you give, then please don’t be a delivery rider,” he wrote on the FB group GrabFood Rider Malaysia.
In his post, Shahril also listed down the four common mistakes made by delivery drivers. Here’s what he shared:
- “It’s still acceptable if they’re being late since some need to pray (on certain days).”
- “They don’t come up to our floor to deliver the food. Unless the security guard stops you, riders can still take the effort to walk up.”
- “They don’t bother calling when they arrive. Then again, I understand that they might be rushing off to deliver their next order.”
- “The food has been damaged. Despite damaging people’s food, they don’t even bother to offer a single apology. This is what pisses me off.”
The part-time food delivery rider also shared a photo of his spilled FamilyMart beverages, as well a screenshot of his conversation with the GrabFood rider. In his lengthy post, the man also stated that he wouldn’t had bring this issue up if the rider was honest about it from the start.
“If you’ve done something wrong, just inform the customer. But you didn’t bother to do anything about it. Sorry, I have to lodge a complaint to Grab Malaysia,” he wrote. “I hope he’ll only get a warning. If he doesn’t feel guilty about it, then I guess it’s better to fire him straight away.”
Shahril’s post was met with tons of reactions from the netizens. In this case, many took to the comments section to put the food delivery rider on blast. Others also called for food delivery riders to have more common sense while performing their job. Read what they said here:
- “Please have more common sense, fellow riders. You should’ve put cupped drinks in the motorcycle basket.”
- “He looks like a child. Just report him.”
- “A lot of customers refuse to order through Grab because of these irresponsible young riders.”
- “Is it difficult to just apologise? You should’ve delivered the drinks upstairs, but you just placed the drinks downstairs. As easy as that?”
On the other hand, there were also a few commenters who slammed Shahril for posting the food delivery rider’s personal details. “Please cover the rider’s name and his plate number,” one netizen told Shahril.
