Converse’s “Soul Feast” Celebration
As part of its “Connect With The Unexpected, Create Now, Create Next” campaign, Converse Malaysia recently hosted a special event to highlight the skills of the fashion brand’s All Stars members. We joined the “Soul Feast” session, where we got to mingle with some of the super-talented individuals involved in the campaign.
The event featured home cook THE CHOOBS, a DJ/Producer with over a decade of experience performing in both local and international arenas while running his own micro eatery, “Cue at 27”, and also trained chef Haqiemaoki, a budding visual artist who spends his free time operating pop-up restaurants all over KL, doing commissioned artworks. The highlight of the night was a special performance by award-winning local band, Late Night Frequency.

Faizal Tahir’s Concert PC
Faizal Tahir is a name that needs no introduction to fans of the local music industry. He first broke onto the scene after placing second in the reality TV show, “One In A Million”. Following that, the prolific singer/songwriter released several bangers, namely “Mahakarya Cinta”, “Bencinta”, “Selamat Malam”, “Ragaman” and also “Santai”. To top it all off, he has also won several prestigious awards, including the “Anugerah Juara Lagu” and “Anugerah Industri Muzik”.
After over 17 years of blood, sweat and tears in the industry, Faizal will be treating his longtime fans to a special and intimate concert entitled “Aku Faizal Tahir”. The concert will be held at the World Trade Centre on 2nd September, 2023 at 8pm. Tickets are now available for purchase exclusively on JioTix’s official website.

Genting World Lion Dance Championship PC
We checked out the press conference for the 14th Genting World Lion Dance Championship at SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting (RWG). Hailed as one of the most recognised and respected championships in the lion dance industry, the event’s return is one long awaited by lion dance enthusiasts. This year, 36 international teams will compete from 4th-6th August to win the grand prize of US$15,000.
Mr Roger Ong, RWG Assitant Vice President for Entertainment and Events, officiated the event, accompanied by Mr Leong Lik Thong and Mr Lim Seng Chia, the Chairman and the Deputy Chairman of Selangor & Federal Territory Dragon & Lion Dance Association. We were also treated to a spectacular lion dance performance during the press conference, giving us a taste of what’s to come this August!

FERRIA KL Grill & Bar Launch
To celebrate the start of the weekend, we joined the grand launch of FERRIA KL, a rainforest-themed bar and grill located right in the middle of the bustling shopping district of Bukit Bintang. Along with being treated to mouthwatering dishes, we were also served a variety of refreshing mocktails and cocktails. Throughout the night, engaging performances kept us entertained. We even had the chance to experience airbrush tattoos for the first time! Capping the night with a couple of fascinating desserts, we left the restaurant promising that we would visit again soon.
FERRIA KL is now open for business, every day from 12pm to 12am. The restaurant is located on the ground floor of The Westin KL.

GOURI Collagen Stimulator Launch
GOURI, the first and only liquid collagen in the world, is now making its way into the Malaysian market. In celebration of this, GOURI invited us to witness the unveiling of its latest innovation in collagen-stimulating treatments. Other than being treated to delicious high tea, we also participated in various activities for a chance to win exciting prizes. Too bad we weren’t able to win anything, but we still had a great time there. One memorable moment was when we had to guess the ages of two people who had undergone the injectable treatment. Let us tell you, they look nothing like their ages – and you can imagine the shock on our faces when we heard their real ages!

Yukazan Derma Skincare Launch
Health brand Yukazan recently released its new skincare range – and we got to check out all the products during their launch at After One Cafe. With the unveiling of the two series – Acne and Hydra – Yukazan wants to help you combat acne and dryness to achieve acne-free and hydrated skin. We also got an introduction to the products and a demonstration by one of Yukazan’s pharmacists. We were also able to check our skin’s health, plus try our hands at DIY-ing pressed flower coasters, courtesy of Flower Factory.

Power Root & Sappe Ink Partnership
Local beverage company Power Root Berhad signed a co-investment agreement with Thailand’s food and beverage brand, Sappe Public Company Limited, to bring the world’s most beloved nata de coco drink, Mogu Mogu, into the country for the enjoyment of local consumers. The signing ceremony also witnessed Korean singing sensation, Jang Han Byul, being appointed as the ambassador of the famous drink.
According to Power Root’s co-chairman, Y.A.D Tengku Dato’ Setia Putra Alhaj Bin Tengku Azman Shah Alhaj, “As a brand that has become synonymous with South Korean K-pop group BTS, Mogu Mogu holds a strong appeal among consumers throughout Asia. 6th Malaysia International Film Festival Launch
You’re not a hardcore movie fan if you don’t watch both local and international movies. And now’s your chance to prove yourself! The 6th Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) held a press conference recently at GSC Mid Valley – and we were there to witness all the coolest upcoming movies that will grace the big screens this July!
After the 300 record-breaking submissions received for the annual festival, MIFFest revealed not only the movie line-up that the audience will get to enjoy, but the nominees for the award categories too. From the teasers and trailers presented, we can assure you that you’ll want to watch basically all of them, especially the opening movie, “Eraser”, which features the late great Adibah Noor.

LOTR X Magic: The Gathering @ Lemon Tree PJ
Calling all planeswalkers: come and gather, for Middle-earth needs you. The much-anticipated crossover of two of the greatest fantasy titans is finally here in Malaysia, as we get our first look and hands-on experience with Magic: The Gathering x LOTR. There, we witnessed and got all the juicy details on what is the biggest and most ambitious collaboration in the world of trading card games to date. Held at The Lemon Tree in Tropicana PJ on Wednesday, 14th June, our lovely host served up a fantastic feast that would make some friendly hobbits ask for a third breakfast and then some.
New and veteran players alike were given a chance to crack open a fresh set and build their army in order to liberate J.R.R. Tolkien’s world, or bring it to its heels. Not only that, we were informed that the elusive One Ring was present in the boxes distributed to the guests, and lo and behold, our media representative was the lucky one to get it, along with receiving the first Commander Decks in Southeast Asia.
With the full release scheduled on Friday, 23rd June, we cannot wait to join the field and decide the fate for all of Middle-earth!

Nespresso Afternoon Tea @ M Resort & Hotel KL
Nothing beats having coffee for afternoon tea, and Nespresso graciously invited us to enjoy a cuppa with them! Hosted at M Resort & Hotel KL, Nespresso’s recent event was a chance for us to try their limited Congo Organic coffee, which is part of their Reviving Origins programme. The delightful cup packed a punch with its fruity aromatic notes and the subtle hint of sweet cereals and nuts. Of course, paired with the afternoon tea curated by the chef at M Resort & Hotel, the whole experience was just that much tastier!

Cetaphil Power Of 7 Launch
Cetaphil displayed its Power of 7 by launching its latest range Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance at Sunway Pyramid, earlier this week! With a pop-up station, Cetaphil allowed its visitors to experience each power with seven different booths, while offering a desirable gift at the end. They also hosted a panel on skincare with local influencer Elfira Loy. Artist Lizz Chloe too was present and together, the duo brightened up the event, both with their stunning complexions and friendly personalities!

Häagen-Dazs X Pierre Hermé Celebration
We were invited to 1 Utama Shopping Centre to experience the latest and sweetest collaboration, where the soothing taste of Häagen-Dazs ice cream met Pierre Hermé’s master-crafted macarons. We had a tasting of Häagen-Dazs’ latest products, from the delectable Double Chocolate Ganache Parfait to the very Instagrammable Macaron Kiss Cone – and we even had the chance to taste the limited-edition, zesty Yuzu Macaron Crush.
However, it wasn’t just ice cream and macarons; we also brushed up on our painting skills as we received a crash course in French watercolour workshops. Our muse of choice? Häagen-Dazs’ mouth-watering collection, of course!

“Shout It Out” Mini Festival Launch
We were treated to a sneak peek of Malaysia’s biggest free-for-all arts festival at the YSDAF 2023 Mini “Shout It Out” Festival, jointly organised by Yayasan Sime Darby (YSD) and The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac). The launch was hosted by the founders of klpac, Dato’ Dr Faridah Merican and Joe Hasham OAM. Among the many activities that we got to enjoy were the artisan tea brewing session, busking, and eco-weaving.
The festival is set to be held at klpac, Sentul for two days – 19th and 20th August, 2023. Stay tuned to klpac and Yayasan Sime Darby’s official socials for more updates.

“Extraction 2” Top Secret Mission
Flex those guns and channel your inner Chris Hemsworth! In conjunction with the release of “Extraction 2”, Netflix Malaysia organised a top secret mission where we got to experience what it’s like to be Tyler Rake. Located at Blastacars in Sungei Wang Plaza, the fitness trainers from O-Zone Fitness had prepared a few obstacle courses that involved skipping, weights, balancing and more. After breaking a sweat or two at the obstacle circuit, we were able to test out our driving skills by racing and drifting around the Blastacars karts corner. What an exciting leisure karting experience that was!
