Last year, Dato Seri Vida was accused of isolating her maids during Ramadan iftar because of their status. Some came to her defense saying that it was normal for an employer to set boundaries with their employees.
Despite sharing a lot of her personal life online, not much is known about her relationship with her maids until very recently when one of her maids apparently ran off with a man. Here’s how the controversial celeb reacted to the incident:
Yesterday (Tuesday, 13th June), Dato Seri Vida posted a video on her Instagram where she expressed her frustration after discovering that one of her maids apparently ran off with a man. The entrepreneur said that she checked the CCTV footage to see the maid, who she refers to as Wati, climbing over the fence to meet up with a mysterious man on the other side.
“I’ve always advised you to not be so easily influenced by a man. You have money but these men will lie to you. You just met him but you’re willing to run away with him?!” said the “I Am Me” singer in her video. She even listed down all the things she’s done for her maid before the incident as a way to show how fortunate her employee was to have worked with her.
The 51-year-old was not the only one disappointed in the maid. Her daughter Cik B also tweeted her thoughts earlier today about the runaway employee. “Our maid was willing to climb over the barbed-wired fence just to be with a man. I hope he appreciates your efforts,” she wrote.
Netizens responded to both the video and the tweet with some agreeing that there have been a lot of cases where maids or housekeepers ran away with their lovers. Others jokingly asked if there was now a vacancy for the maid’s job. Few also suspected that something must’ve happened in DS Vida’s house for the maid to even consider running away.
We’re not entirely sure what went on behind the scenes but let’s hope that the DS Vida’s family is doing better and that the maid does not regret her decision.
