Getting your Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results can be an exciting event where you celebrate with your loved ones beside you. However, one student’s results day was bittersweet as her father had passed away less than 24 hours before the SPM results announcement.
Nur Farah Melissa Mohd Syukri’s heartbreaking story was reported by local newspapers, sharing the 18-year-old’s tragic loss. According to the student, her father was 57 years old and had suffered from chronic diabetes.
Last week, her father was admitted to the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) in Terengganu due to kidney complications. However, after his condition deteriorated, he eventually passed away on the evening of 7th June, approximately 17 hours before the announcement of the SPM results.
The next day, the student went to school to collect her results slip, accompanied by her younger brother as her mother was resting at home. She tearfully revealed that her late father had promised to go with her, but unfortunately, he couldn’t fulfil his promise. The 18-year-old also shared that she scored 8As and 2Cs.
During the result announcement ceremony, Farah received condolences from teachers who heard about her father’s passing. Her late father was also a teacher who had always supported her while she was in school.
Dedicating her results to her late father and mother, Wan Zubaidah Wan Ahmad, the teen shared that she plans to further her education in accounting, which was her late father’s wish. We also wish our condolences to Farah and her family, and we hope she’ll continue to achieve great things in the future.
