On Douyin, street fashion topics are one of the most viral trends there. Photographers and videographers would take to the streets to capture citizens’ fashion styles and share them as inspiration online. This trend originated from China and have since influenced the rest of the world.
Recently, a street fashion video on Douyin went viral because of the controversies it had sparked. In what looks to be a normal video of a couple on the streets turned out to be a ‘caught-in-the-act’ instead.
From the video, a beautiful woman in a pink strapless dress can be seen holding hands with a casually-dressed man. The man was wearing the same colour as her, giving the impression that they’re a perfectly sweet couple. However, in reality, it’s a different story. Sources online claim that the man is married, and the woman beside him is actually his mistress.
The man in the video is apparently Hu Jiyong (胡继勇), the executive director and general manager of Huanqiu Engineering Project Management (Beijing) Co. Ltd, one of the companies under China National Petroleum Corporation. Since the viral video, he has been relieved of his posts and is currently put under inspection.
As for the young woman, she is Jiyong’s mistress, Dong Sijin (董思槿). She joined the workforce after graduating from China University of Petroleum with a master’s degree. In 2022, she was transferred to Jiyong’s company and worked under him and his wife.
With the dismissal of Jihong, many netizens were confused as to why there were no news regarding Sijin. Questions were raised as to whether she has been suspended from her company. In regards to this, a staff member cleared up the confusion by confirming her suspension.
“The discipline inspection commission has yet to give their feedback. The company is currently having a meeting to discuss about this matter, and the results will be determined by our leader. Once we have a conclusion, we will definitely inform the public.”
