A Malaysian woman named Syafikah Efaa recently alleged that she was kicked out of a hotel located in Cameron Highlands, because her baby was being too noisy. She shared her story in a post uploaded on the FB group “Hotel Review Malaysia”.
In her lengthy post, the woman revealed that she and her family were treated very rudely by the hotel staff. Syafikah claimed that they were kicked out of their room, simply due to the fact that her child was “giggling too loud”. Here’s her story:
“A male staff came knocking on the door while I was resting. He asked if there was any problem? I told him, ‘What’s the problem?’ He said he had heard a child crying, when in fact my baby was just playing and giggling. He’s one-year-old, what kind of noise can he make?” Syafikah wrote.
Following that, she went down to the lobby and asked the receptionist for clarification. They claimed that they received a complaint about her baby being too noisy. “I told them it’s not proper to just knock on the door like that, although you are entitled to do so. They suddenly snapped and argued that I didn’t know how to care for my child, since I allowed my baby to behave that way,” Syafikah added.
“I asked, what should I do if my child cries in the middle of the night? They replied, “It’s up to you on how to calm him down. If you can’t follow the rules, I think you should leave.” It’s 12am. But I remained patient,” the FB user further revealed. “I also questioned the hotel’s policy about bringing kids there. They were twisting their words and told me that I failed to check the terms and conditions properly. When I asked for a refund, they told me to ask apply for it online instead. In the end, I checked out of the hotel, took all my belongings, and we looked for another hotel. Again, it was 12am. Imagine if this happened to your own family.”
For those wondering, the homestay is called Rovers Inn. After Syafikah’s post went viral, the hotel management took to Facebook to explain their side of the story. They clarified that they never kicked out their guests due to any “racist beliefs”. They also revealed that they will be taking legal action against those who left malicious remarks towards the hotel.
