Change is inevitable and sometimes it happens when you least expect it – like this one. Apparently, the ever-busy KL Sentral LRT Station will undergo an official name change and, starting today (Monday, 29th May), will now be known as the “KL Sentral redONE” LRT Station.
According to myRapid KL, the change was the result of a strategic partnership between Prasarana Integrated Development Sdn Bhd and redONE Network Sdn Bhd, the largest mobile virtual network operator in ASEAN. The partnership also involved a rebranding and a five-year agreement for the naming rights of the station, thus resulting in the name change.

The chief executive officer (CEO) of Prasarana Integrated Development, Fa’izah Khairuddin, said that this collaboration is a noteworthy achievement for the company and showcases its commitment to more innovative products, campaigns and long-term partnerships. She added that the collaboration will elevate the overall experience of commuters while also creating fresh opportunities for RedONE.
Meanwhile, redONE’s CEO, Farid Yunus, expressed that the partnership presents an opportunity for the company to expand its reach to the millions who travel through the station daily. He also said the partnership will reinforce redONE’s presence in the Klang Valley region.

As the new name of the central transit hub of our country’s rail system, “KL Sentral redONE” will be immediately displayed in key locations within the KL Sentral station and along the Kelana Jaya line, including on signages, maps, and even on board the trains.
What do you think about this name change? Do you think it will have any significant effect on LRT users?
