The work of a pilot is never easy because a lot of things lie in their hands. Since their job is to transport passengers, the slightest interruption to their concentration could cause serious harm to the plane and those inside it.
That’s why a pilot recently warned against shining bright lights or lasers into the night sky when planes are flying by. The pilot, who goes by ‘MrTurboProp’ on TikTok, posted a video of an individual pointing a green laser into the part of the sky where the pilot was flying over.
@mrturboprop Bro, jgn buat hal please. Lokasi: belakang taman Elmina #laser #danger #landing #pilotlife #edutok #learnontiktok #elmina
The video showed the nighttime view above a town from a plane cruising in the air when several bright green lights flashed suddenly. According to the video, the flashes came from an area near Taman Elmina in Subang. It is understood that the video was taken while the pilot was flying towards the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport.

In the captions, the pilot clarified that the lights inside the cockpit are dimmed during a nighttime landing so that the pilots could adjust their sight to better see in the dark. He continued saying, “If you aim (the laser) right in our (pilot’s) eye, it’ll cause a glare. It can harm the safety of the plane. If it’s a high-powered laser, we’ll immediately be blinded.“
After the video was uploaded, it received tons of attention, with various comments from netizens. One commenter called for authorities to take action against the individual who flashed the laser, while another commenter shared that in foreign countries, similar incidents would result in the perpetrator getting caught and punished almost immediately.
However, some netizens tried to make light of the situation, like one commenter who wrote, “This must be someone who just got what they ordered in the mail. They had to test it first.” Another comment reads, “Just honk at them”, likening the situation to traffic incidents where drivers would flash their high beam lights. One commenter even joked that someone was trying to film a review video of a powerful flashlight.
You can always count on Malaysian netizens to make a joke out of everything. But as entertained as we were by the comments, let’s not forget what the pilot warned about in the video.
