Normally, you would find monitor lizards out in the wild but there have been some terrifying cases where these large reptiles were spotted in public spaces like the one that was roaming in a parking lot in Lotus Ara Damansara.
Thankfully, these incidents don’t occur very often but what would you do if you spotted a monitor lizard right outside your doorstep? That was the case for the residents of this building when they found out that they had an unexpected visitor recently.
A man who goes by Jiten recently recalled his experience of discovering a large Malayan water monitor lizard in front of a door at an apartment building his parents live in. According to Mothership, the scary encounter took place on the 3rd floor of 428 Bedok North Road in Singapore. It was reported that the lizard made its way up from the ground floor before it was spotted by the other residents.
“My parents were alerted by the neighbours who told them that there was [what they believed to be] a crocodile at their block,” Jiten told the media outlet. He then revealed that panic broke out among the residents as they tried to scare the animal away with their brooms. According to the Singaporean man, the reptile moved incredibly fast but did not react aggressively to the locals.
Fortunately, the National Parks Board was called to the scene to deal with the lizard before the situation gets worse. Meanwhile, netizens reacted to the news with some sharing how they would react if they were to experience the incident while others left some very entertaining comments as to what brought the monitor lizard to pay a visit.
National Parks Board released a statement saying that the Malayan water monitor lizard has been safely removed from the premise and will be released back to its natural habitat. Watch the video of the animal at the building below:
