In Chinese, 520 (五二零 wǔ èr líng) sounds pretty close to the heartfelt phrase, “I love you (我爱你 wǒ ài nǐ)”. Because of this reason, China has deemed 20th May to be a really special occasion — a day of love. Some even regard 520 as a bigger occasion compared to Valentine’s Day.
On this romantic day, Hong Kong singer and actor, Kelvin Kwan (關楚耀), joyfully announced his successful marriage proposal to his flight attendant girlfriend, Joann. Netizens were happy for the both of them and sent them their good wishes.
Choosing the perfect day to share the great news, Kelvin announced the good news after asking his girlfriend’s hand in marriage. In between colorful roses and pink and white balloons, an adorable photo was taken and this marked the first public photo of the two. The post was captioned, “In the end, she marries love, and I also marry love. She said YES! And it’s forever,” with the tags #20230201 and #happy520.
Joann also shared her thoughts about the proposal on her Instagram stories. “It’s here, a (love) bomb on 520. Our first public photo is us getting married～” The soon-to-be wife later went on to mention that every girl deserves to have a romantic and ceremonial-like proposal.

Kelvin and Joann have been together for more than 6 years. They regularly tag and display their affection for each other on their social media, but fans have not seen photos of them together – until now.
