We’ve all come across an animal carcass on the road at least once. Some people have gone out of their way to remove the dead animals from the road and bury the remains nearby but what would you do if it was a barely alive large wild animal that was injured from an accident?
Recently, a black panther was caught lying down on the road after it was hit by a vehicle. Here’s what happened (Warning: Footages may be disturbing):

Over the weekend, the Jabatan Netizen Malaysia Twitter page posted several videos of a road accident involving an MPV car and a black panther at Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan. As seen in the first video above, the large injured feline was seen lying on the road after it was hit by the aforementioned vehicle. It was reported that the driver had no time to avoid the animal when it suddenly appeared in front of his car.
The second video showed the panther slowly getting up and dragging its wounded body away from the slow ongoing traffic, almost losing its life when it went under a passing lorry. The third footage was probably the most depressing as it showed the barely alive animal lying down motionless in a nearby drain at the side of the road.
Unfortunately, according to the Harian Metro, the black panther was reported to have died in the drain moments after the incident. Speaking to the media, Jelebu district police chief Maslan Udin said that the panther’s body has been handed over to the Negeri Sembilan Department of Wildlife Protection and National Parks for further action.

Thankfully, the driver and his family did not suffer any injuries from the collision with the 40kg creature. For your information, Malaysia is actually home to the largest black panther population in the world. However, the poor species are currently facing a serious threat as there’s been too many poaching activities as well as deforestation causing them to flee from their natural habitat.
