Sometimes, when you’re rushing to your destination, you could leave behind your belongings like a phone or a wallet – or in the case of these parents, they left their child. In a video uploaded on TikTok, a user shared a situation where a young boy was abandoned at an R&R after his family had left without him. The boy, dressed in a red top, was seen making a phone call to his mother using, presumably, the TikTok user’s phone.
The video’s captions provided more context to the situation and stated that the boy’s parents had already left the Seremban R&R but after receiving the call, waited at the next R&R stop to figure out how to return. The captions also noted how the boy seems to be on the verge of tears yet tries to remain calm.

The video was then shared on Twitter by user ‘bckupacc99’ and garnered a lot of attention with most replies angered by how irresponsible the parents were, questioning how the parents could have left the R&R without noticing the son’s absence. Some commenters also felt empathetic towards the boy due to the mother’s harsh tone while on the phone.
One user replied, “Whatever it is, it’s the parent’s responsibility to ensure all the children are present before resuming the journey. That poor boy is 100% innocent. He’s just a kid.”. Another tweet noted that the mother’s voice came off rather defensive as if blaming the child rather than taking responsibility. While there were also users who tried to justify the parent’s carelessness, they too noted that the parents should be more cautious of how they speak to not cause distress to the young boy.

Unfortunately, incidents like these happen way too often, especially during the busy festive season. Hopefully, this serves as a reminder for all the parents out there to always be wary.
