Sometimes, when Malaysians are too hung up on the corruption of the country— one of them being our police force— we overlook those who truly seek to do well for the country. There is actually a fair share of unsung heroes in our country, yet we are overly focused on ‘negative’ deeds till simple, kind deeds hardly get recognised.
Not long ago, the Royal Malaysia Police posted a video on their Facebook account showing two police officers going out of their way to help an elderly man in need. This video sparked admiration from netizens.
From the video, one can see a man in a pink baju Melayu walking toward a gas station behind a policeman pushing a motorbike. The video looked to be captured on a dashcam.
According to the caption, two policemen by the name of Lance Corporal Mohd Nasrull Muridin and Lance Corporal Lee Ah Sui happened upon a senior citizen whose motorbike ran out of gas while patrolling around Masai, Johor.

Coming across him, both of them decided to lend the old man a helping hand. One gave him a ride in their vehicle, while the other helped pushed his motorbike under the hot sun to a nearby gas station. Even after that, they made sure that the senior citizen’s motorbike was filled with petrol before departing and continuing with their duty. “This gesture is used as an example to all members from ‘Sang Saka Biru’.”
Upon seeing this post, netizens had nothing but praise and respect for the kind deed performed by the two police officers. Some even shared their past heartwarming stories when PDRM officers helped them when they were in need.
- “This is the side of PDRM many do not seem to see…. it’s always corruption but when PDRM is kind and helpful, many seem to overlook it. Well done PDRM.”
- “Good deed… The unsung hero.”
- “People just look at the bad. Many of the good things people close their eyes. Those who get ‘saman’ always scold PDRM even though it’s their own mistake.”
- “Remembering the old days in Kota Bharu, I had problems when my car wouldn’t start. My wife and I, along with our son who was still young, were really worried… Suddenly 2 PDRM officers came and helped push our car. Thank you to both officers… Apparently, that’s not the end because my son who used to be young is now serving at PDRM.”
Let’s try to focus on the good from PDRM as well, instead of just the bad. There’s humanity and kindness in people, and these two Malaysian officers from the video are proof of that.
