Hong Kong Cantopop singer Eason Chan (陳奕迅) ended his 3-show concert beautifully yesterday (14th May 2023). He gave Malaysia a memorable concert filled with his powerful voice, dreamy backdrops and witty jokes.
Eason Chan returned to Malaysia after 6 years for his “Fear and Dreams World Tour” which was held at Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil from Friday to Sunday. His tickets were sold out almost instantly after being opened for sale. The 48-year-old Cantopop star even treated himself to his favourite local dish after entertaining Malaysian fans with back-to-back shows. “Eating chicken wings to build back my muscles,” he wrote.
Were you one of the thousands who showed up for his concert? The whole time Eason was on stage, the excitement from Malaysian fans never died down. From singing along to cheering enthusiastically, their passion has even affected Eason himself. The singer’s energy and liveliness on stage clearly reciprocated Malaysia’s enthusiasm towards his return after so long.
During his concert, the singer even entertained his audience with some jokes that brought the whole stadium to laughter. “Next time… Should I just open up more shows? We need a bigger space to accommodate all of you, we should just hold it at an outdoor stadium. Yeah, why have three shows when one (outdoor) show would be enough. However, you guys won’t be as close to me, so I can’t be in your background, because I’ll be (gestures) this small.”
There was another moment where Eason heard one of his fans shouting that her husband was a longtime fan. The 48-year-old responded to that by saying, “Did your husband like me before he liked you?” The audience roared in laughter at his reply.
Magnificent lights and banners covered the stadium during Eason’s “Fear and Dreams World Tour”. The sight itself was really pleasing to the eyes, as if the singer himself was in a sea of lights. Seeing this, the singer even praised his fans, saying that their lights were really beautiful.
Eason ended his tour in Malaysia with an excitement-filled encore. His encore consisted of a special performance of his new song “LIGHTLY” and one of classics, “Today Next Year”. The crowd cheered insanely for both these songs, and cheered even louder when Eason took of his shirt and tossed it into the crowd.
Ending the concert with a bang, Eason thanked Malaysia for their constant support and passion throughout his tour. “See you next time, let’s sweat together, cry together, shout together, and spend time with each other again!”
