Nur Sajat Kamaruzzaman has issued her response to the backlash surrounding her showgirl debut performance. Last week, she uploaded a few videos of her attending the “Trans Glamoré” event at the Newtown Hotel in Sydney.
Yesterday (Tuesday, 9th May), the queer entrepreneur shared a new video of her dancing to Jennifer Lopez’s “Let’s Get Loud”, while clad in skimpy outfits. Her performance received positive feedback from the audience. Just like the previous video, the reaction from local netizens was the opposite.
Netizens took to the comments section to put Sajat on blast. One commenter wrote, “You’re embarrassing the Malays. You’re giving Malaysia a bad name, especially with that kind of dance. I will get bashed if I speak more.” Instead of staying silent, Sajat was quick to reply to the netizen. She said, “Excuse me. I’m born Malaysian, but I’m now an Australian citizen. Pity youself.” The comment was later deleted by the netizen in question.
Another netizen advised the “Makhluk Penggoda” singer to undergo ruqyah (healing method based on the Quran and Hadith to treat disease). Sajat angrily responded, “Why? You are being such a busybody. I’m (no longer) in Malaysia. Now I’m in Australia. Stop judging me. Stop giving bad idiotic words.”
It’s aggravating to see so many people with God-complex online, feeling the need to “advice’ others. To this species, here’s a mirror.
