It’s no secret that K-pop idols have to keep hush about their dating life, especially after debuting. It’s quite often we see idols facing overwhelming backlash from fans or even suffered repercussions from their label when their relationships get exposed to the public.
With that being said, many have always been curious on these artists secretly meet each other or even go on dates without people noticing. A former idol recently dropped some behind the scene secrets of how these celebs can even interact with each other backstage.
Former idol Jang Mi (장미), who was also a member of disbanded K-pop girl group LIMESODA (라임소다), recently appeared on the HEYDAY YouTube channel where she shared her experience as both an idol and a backup dancer.
During the Q&A video, the actress answered a question about how male and female members of idol groups meet, interact or even date each other backstage during music show broadcasts. The former dancer revealed that idols dating privately backstage is an extremely rare case as most labels have a strict dating ban so everyone has to be careful not to violate the contract.
“The artists don’t really have a connection as they’re usually separated by partitions in the dressing rooms. They’re also surrounded by their staff so everyone is only with their team,” she stated. The “Wave” singer also shared that the only time idol groups interacted is usually when juniors meet their seniors or do TikTok dance challenges and even then, a staff member is usually present to supervise them.
When asked if it’s the same case for reality shows such as “Idol Star Athletic Championships” (ISAC)(a series known for dating rumours), unfortunately, Jang Mi has no experience in participating in the show so she could not answer the question. Perhaps another idol will one day come forward to confirm all these dating rumours. Who knows?
