There were rumours going around that Uncle Roger’s Restaurant and Bar, located at SS2, recently closed down. As a restaurant and bar that serves Italian and French food with a Malaysian twist, the sudden disappearance of the restaurant from all their social media sparked a frenzy among netizens.
Recently, someone shared on Facebook a ‘farewell’ post from Uncle Roger’s Restaurant and Bar MY. “Thank you so much everyone for your love and support throughout these years.”
Upon seeing this post, netizens shared different speculations on the shocking closure of the restaurant. Some said this is an investment plan to suck people into investing into them. Hence ,the caption of the post, “I think I hit the bull’s-eye. Investors, did you not see my post? So pitiful, did your mentors not help?”
Others suspected that the restaurant had to close because of copyright issues for its name. Moreover, there were some who speculated that the restaurant closed down because certain deals had gone sour, resulting in them having to halt any plans on expanding the business in the Klang Valley.
These rumours were eventually cleared up. According to China Press, Uncle Roger’s Restaurant and Bar SS2 has changed their name to OZZIE’s Cafe and Bar and is open for business as usual.
An anonymous worker from the restaurant said that there were new menu items introduced to the current one, that’s the reason why the name change took place. They also mentioned that the boss is still the same as the previous. All social medias under Uncle Roger’s Restaurant and Bar MY have since been inactive and new accounts under OZZIE’s Cafe have been created instead.
