Despite having been together for over 14 years, Hong Kong actress Catherine Hung Yan (洪欣) and actor Andy Zhang (张丹峰) have officially announced their divorce. News of their divorce was released yesterday (1st May).
Although unexpected, some felt their separation was a long time coming. Especially since Andy Zhang was allegedly caught cheating on Catherine Hung with his former manager, Bi Ying in 2019. While the couple had attempted to smooth things over then, it seems things have come to head now.
In 2009, Catherine Hung and Andy Zhang tied the knot despite Andy being 10 years younger than Catherine. The couple has two kids and allegedly had a happy marriage. But, four years ago, Andy was seen spending the night with his then-manager Bi Ying. Media reports claim Bi Ying had stayed late in Andy’s hotel room and when she left the room later, she was spotted in a nightgown.
Andy refuted the rumours and Bi Ying later resigned, but while Catherine stayed quiet about the issue, she notably deleted photos of Andy from her socials. Nothing more was said about matter, but it seems Catherine finally reached her breaking point. On 1st May, Catherine revealed on her socials, “Andy Zhang and I are no longer together.”
The Chinese actor himself later confirmed the news by commenting on his own socials: “Yes, no more!” with three crying emojis. Chinese media claim Catherine had actually declared their divorce several times earlier, but she later alleged, “someone deleted my Weibo (posts)“. A few netizens suspected Andy of being the culprit but he vehemently denied it. “(With) which eye did you see that I deleted (her posts)?” he asked.
Neither Catherine Hung nor Andy Zhang have commented further on their new relationship status. But, some suggest that the two have been treating each other like strangers prior to their divorce. Well, regardless, we wish the two well as they sort out their affairs for their separation.
