One should always be respectful, regardless if you’re in a public space or at someone’s home. Otherwise, you might end up being involved in unnecessary conflict or get arrested for public obscenity.
But some of these rules can sound ridiculous or unnecessary as pointed out by this Reddit user. The person recently shared a list of rules that students in their university are not allowed to do.
Many were curious when Reddit user @cxlxnxl_kickaxx posted a photo of a set of rules concerning students’ vehicles when in the vicinity of the campus. From the photo above, most of the rules seem fine and reasonable but rule no.6 is what caught the original poster (OP) and everyone else’s attention.
The rule stated, “I understand and agree that the university reserves the right to impose a penalty amount of RM30. Registration can be cancelled if the vehicle is used to carry an opposite sex member (i.e unmarried couple)”. If you’re wondering which educational institute this is, the OP claimed that they are a student at University Utara Malaysia (UUM) in Sintok, Kedah.
The Reddit post went viral on the social media platform where netizens shared their thoughts on the highlighted rule. Those who claimed to be alumni were surprised to see this new rule as it never existed before during their study years. Others were wondering if the rule also applies to family members of the opposite sex. There were also jokes about how gay couples are safe from this rule.
Netizens also theorised that the rule existed to avoid another sexual incident going viral like the couple in the “sakit video”. A few thought it was unnecessary as they believe it’s no one’s business when it comes to what students do in their own vehicles.
At the time of writing, there is no clarification from UUM or the OP regarding rule no.6. Regardless, we hope the students there won’t get into trouble over any misunderstandings.
