Iqbal Zulkefli came under massive fire over a post he shared on his Instagram recently. The Kelantanese entrepreneur uploaded a video of him with his foster son, Ahmad Ziyad.
In the video, Iqbal can be seen donning a female’s undergarment underneath a red telekung (prayer garment). “Please stay strong, Ziyad. Our Ummi (Mother) is not born yet. Let me be your breastfeeding mom,” he captioned the post, as he tries to “breastfeed” his child.
A lot of netizens didn’t react too kindly to Iqbal’s post. Most of them called him out for being insensitive, on top of making fun of Islam. Following the backlash, the video was later removed by 28-year-old public figure. He also posted a lengthy apology on his Instagram Story not too long after that. Iqbal clarified that the video was only meant as a joke. He explained, “When my family recorded the video, I didn’t intent to upload it on my socials. I was simply messing around when I was with my family members.”
The “Hujan” crooner added, “My intention was to show people that I am not a serious person all the time. In fact, there’re tons of movies, dramas and even artistes who came up with jokes like that. I don’t even think I was resembling a woman here. I didn’t intend to insult, let alone dress up like a woman. Regardless, I apologise, and I have also removed the video out of respect.”
Iqbal added that people tend to have a misconception that he’s always too serious. As such, he wanted to show that he can be naughty and funny too.
