Since the creation of their Douyin account in June 2020, Malay Cousin Brothers (马来堂哥) boomed in popularity on the app. Consisting of two cousin brothers, Edison and Chen Chen (辰辰), their content mainly focuses on travelling around Malaysia, local attractions and delicacies, as well as answering any questions those residing in China would have regarding Malaysia.
Till this day, Malay Cousin Brothers have gained a following of more than 1.1 million on Douyin. Earlier this year, younger brother Chen Chen announced his relationship with Faye (飞儿). Yesterday (Sunday, 2nd April), he finally popped the question to his sweetheart.
Announcing this great news through XiaoHongShu (小红书), Faye captioned the post as “Boyfriend proposed to me on my birthday 💍❤️” and described the whole journey of what happened after the caption. The newly-engaged beauty also proudly announced that she’s looking forward to become a wife!
In her post, she mentioned that the method of proposal was unexpected. She added that Chen Chen fell sick on the night before her birthday, so his condition was not the best. “After he brought me out for my birthday dinner, he just slept off when we reached home.”
On the second day, Chen Chen was still sick. “It was my birthday, yet I still needed to look after him.” Until afternoon that day, Chen Chen was feeling a bit better so he decided to bring his girlfriend out, and specifically told her to dress up for the occasion.
Before heading out, Chen Chen said that his nose was blocked and he wanted to breathe in some fresh air. So, they took a walk around the park downstairs of their apartment. Eventually, they found a pavilion and sat down to talk for a bit. Using the toilet as an excuse to leave for a bit, Chen Chen came back with a huge bouquet of roses.
Along with Faye’s favorite song, “Until I Found You” by Stephen Sanchez, he confessed his love to her and got down on one knee. He then took out the engagement ring from his tote bag and asked the four words – “Will you marry me?”. “Turns out, you’ll really tear up after seeing a guy kneel in front of you. Those that did not cry, please ask your husband to kneel down once more!” Faye quipped.
Faye ended her story with, “Thank you Chen Ge, for preparing this surprise proposal according to the way I like. Thank you for taking all the words I say to heart and remembering it. Thank you for your generous love, being with you everyday feels like I’m a little princess. What a blessing it is to meet such a cute you. I wish that for the days to come, we’ll grow together, shine bright together, and slowly change for the better.”
