Nur Sajat may have left Malaysia but Malaysians are still fond of her. Netizens from her home country have always been quick on their feet when it comes to commenting on her social media posts. As you may have heard, the entrepreneur decided to sport a more modest look for Ramadan as she’s been seen wearing the hijab lately.
However, not everyone was okay with this decision as many criticised the now-Australian citizen for wearing the hijab. One netizen managed to catch her attention with a comment on one of her posts. Here’s the story:
After her live stream on TikTok where she first donned the Islamic headscarf, the 37-year-old posted an Outfit Of The Day (OOTD) photo on her Instagram with a caption that reads, “My iftar OOTD today. Enjoy your iftar, everyone”. The photo, of course, drew lots of attention from Malaysian netizens but one particular comment caught the trans celeb’s attention.
As seen in the screenshot above, the netizen accused the public figure of toying with religion saying, “Don’t play with religion. When is God going to guide you back to Islam? Don’t make God abandon you”. The business owner, who’s always been known to clap back at haters from time to time, replied to the comment proclaiming that she’s still a Muslim despite her gender identity.
“I’m still a Muslim even though I’m transgender. My identity has not made me forget my religion. Who are you to punish me?” she replied to the netizen. The response garnered more attention from other netizens with some supporting the mother-of-two for standing up for herself while others clarified that they only want what is best for the Malaysian celeb.
It’s obvious that Nur Sajat will always receive some criticisms for whatever she does. Whatever the case, she’ll always prioritise her happiness and well-being over those who do not matter to her.
