Every year, we’d hear stories of non-Muslims trying to fast during the month of Ramadan. Many are encouraged by both their Muslim and non-Muslim friends to give it a go while others willingly want to challenge themselves.
Malaysian celebs are no different and during an interview recently, Daniel Fong shared his future plans for fasting during Ramadan after he returns from his holiday with his family. Here’s the the actor’s story:
The Malaysian actor-singer recently spoke with mStar about his plans to try and fast or puasa during the month of Ramadan. The 30-year-old said that he wants to challenge himself by fasting during the second week of Ramadan after he returns from his holiday in Japan with his family.
“I’ve never fasted before, but once I’m back [in Malaysia], I’ll try to fast,” Daniel Fong told mStar. According to the singer, he has gotten moral support from fellow celebs like singer Dr. Soo Winnci and actress Ruhanines, who have encourage him to experience the joys of fasting for himself. The Malaysian celeb shared that Dr. Soo would actually join her Muslim friends in fasting during Ramadan every year.
“My friends have always encouraged me to try fasting. It’s a great opportunity for me to learn more about other cultures and religions,” he said. The “Puteri Lagenda Kasih” star hopes that his willingness to try something new would inspire and encourage others to learn about his religion (Buddhism) too.
