Pandas are arguably one of the most beloved creatures in the world. For those who may not be aware, Zoo Negara Malaysia is home to a few giant pandas. Liang Liang and Xing Xing are two giant pandas from China that were loaned to Malaysia to mark 40 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The two mammals are parents to Nuan Nuan, Sheng Yi, and Yi Yi. The first cub was returned to China back in 2018 and it looks like its two younger siblings will be booking their flights back very soon.

Recently, Zoo Negara Malaysia posted a video of the two young giant panda siblings playing with each other on their TikTok channel. The video was not only to show Sheng Yi and Yi Yi’s adorableness but to also announce that the young mammals will be returning to China very soon. “We are going to miss you both 😢 Yiyi & Sheng Yi,” they captioned the announcement video.

The fluffy duo has called our national zoo their home ever since their birth; Yi Yi was born in 2018 while Sheng Yi was born in 2021. Their return to China is actually part of the agreement when their parents Liang Liang and Xing Xing were loaned to the Malaysian zoo. According to Lifestyle Asia, all giant panda cubs will be returned to China once they reach the ages between 24 months and four years old.

The pandas’ older sibling, Nuan Nuan, left the country after turning 3 years old. After the TikTok video was posted, it reached over 600k views, 66k likes, and 1.1k comments at the time of writing. Scrolling through the comments, netizens are saddened by the news but thanked Zoo Negara for raising and caring for the cubs before they return to their homeland.

As for when the young cubs will be leaving our shores, it was reported that they’ll depart sometime in May. So if any of you would like to see them up close, now’s your chance to visit the zoo!
