The fasting month is here – and that means Malaysia’s iconic Ramadan bazaars are in full swing!
While Ramadan is a month of devotion and piety, it is also the time when special food markets proliferate to cater to Muslims in search of buka puasa fare. You’d be surprised at what you’d find at Ramadan bazaars – a wide variety of dishes from regional cuisines to global favourites, in addition to a wealth of drinks and festive desserts. 2023 will arguably also be the first time since the pandemic that Ramadan bazaars have been allowed to operate without restrictions, so look out!
If you’re trying to figure out which of the many Ramadan bazaars in the Klang Valley to swing by, we gotchu! Here’s our list of 7 of the most popular bazaars of 2023!
Bukit Bintang KL
@moonlightharu Who’s hungry?! #bazaar #ramadhan #iftar #bukitbintang #fyp #BersahurBersamaBerocca #puasa #hungry #food #donki
The Bukit Bintang Ramadan Market, which is situated in front of the famous Bukit Bintang McDonald’s outlet, is difficult to miss if you’re in the neighbourhood. Despite its small size, it offers all the traditional dishes, like roti john, nasi lemak, and nasi briyani. The area is bustling and can become crowded in the evenings, so the best way to get there is by using public transportation if you can. The Bukit Bintang Monorail and MRT stations are just a short distance from the market, making it very simple to get to!

Wangsa Maju
@auninggg Ramadhan tahun ni start dgn bazaar paling fav, 📍Bazaar Ramadhan Wangsa Maju
The Wangsa Maju Ramadan bazaar can be reached by foot from the Wangsa Maju LRT station (it’s near AEON Wangsa Maju). This bazaar will delight you with its endless rows of stalls. Since there are numerous stalls selling the same items, wear comfortable shoes and get ready for a lot of strolling before choosing what to buy. Among the favourites sold here are the ayam percik, laksa Johor, and distinctive murtabak maggi.
Bangsar
@chamais_ Suasana di bazaar Ramadhan Bangsar KL
This famed and favoured bazaar is only 15 minutes away from the Bangsar LRT station. Most of us, being working adults, have no time to visit a bazaar because by the time we finish work, the bazaars are almost closed. So if you’re working around Bangsar or the downtown KL area, this is the bazaar for you.
Though it isn’t big like the rest, it has all the classics you can tapao without having to walk very far. A must-try are the putu piring, grilled seafood, and ayam percik. But don’t forget to grab some kuih too!
Kampung Baru
@freemalaysiatoday Bazaar Ramadan Kampung Baru📍 #FMTLifestyle #Malaysia #bazaarramadan #ramadhan2022 #ramadanbazaar #sembangentertainment #bukapuasa #bukapuasa2022 #fyp
The Kampung Baru Ramadan Market is not only well known, it’s set against the Petronas Twin Towers. It would be impossible to name every vendor at the market, but some do stand out. One of these is the vendor selling bubur lambuk, which is essentially rice porridge cooked with spices and herbs and typically available at any mosque during the holy month. In addition to porridge, the bazaar also offers a wealth of Ramadan favourites. In terms of getting there, you can ride the LRT to Kampung Baru station.
