Tunku Mahkota Johor, Tunku Ismail Idris, has always been passionate for the football sport. In fact, local football fans would probably associate the Johor Prince as the owner of the successful football club Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT).
Speaking of which, TMJ has revealed that the club is planning to set up a women’s football team. The statement was made after the captain of the women’s football team, Steffi Sarge Kaur brought the matter up on socials. Speaking in an interview with a local sports portal, the athlete had urged him to set up a women’s football team for JDT.
“We already know that JDT is a very professional and exceptional team. Maybe TMJ can consider establishing a women’s football team, and we will have the opportunity to make gradual improvements,” the footballer told Flash Sukan. “This year, we’ve witnessed the club setting up a futsal team. Maybe, JDT can set up a female football team for the club.”
It didn’t take too long before the news reached Tunku Ismail himself. He tweeted in response, “Still in the planning stage. Anyone wants to play for JDT’s women’s football team?” At the time of writing (Tuesday, 21st March), TMJ’s post has garnered over 1.3k retweets online.
